My family and I - part 1

My Father

My father’s name is Peter Sylvester. He was born to VG Peter and Sarathambal. VG means Victor George. And I was named after my patti, ‘Sara’. My dad was born and raised up in Butterworth. But they did move a bit, due to the transfers that my tata encountered. My tata worked in TNB, previously known as LLN. My father did a bit of schooling in Alor Star too. My dad has 2 sisters and 3 brothers, 1 has passed away, and I think it was 15 years ago. My father is the 2^nd child in the family.

I never met my patti before, as she died the year before my parents got married. Tata died when I was 10 years old. My father and his brother Raymond joined LLN right after finishing high school and both of them retired with TNB, with long serving service.

His elder sister is Caroline, lives in Glugor now. She was married to Peter Dass, who passed away 4 years ago. My periya atheh has 4 children (all married) and 4 grandchildren. The eldest is Mabel, married to Xavier, has 1 son, Kevin who is studying in KDU College now. They live in Batu Maung. The second is Catherine, married to Bhajan Singh, has 2 girls, Simran (Std 6) & Alisha (age 5). They live in Relau. The third is Francis@ Tony, married to Mei Ling, lives in Bangsar, KL. And the youngest is Helen, married to Carsten, with 1 daughter, Lara, age 5. She migrated to Germary after marrying Carsten. She is living here for almost 10 years now. She recently came back for Christmas last year.

After my father, is his younger brother Raymond, married to Rita. They have 4 children, James, Christopher (recently passed away, only 26), Mabel & Tina. They live in Butterworth.

Next is Alphonse, who has passed away due to liver failure. He was married and has a daughter, Thinisha. They live in KL.

Next is Susila, she is married to Edward and lives in Penang. They have 4 children; Laura, Luke, Leon and Lily. Laura is married to Indran, just less than 2 years ago. And Lily works in the same company as me, in Dell.

The youngest is Sherman. He is not married yet and lives with Raymond.

My Mother

My mother’s name is Anamary. She was born to Nayagam and Philomena. She was born in Selama Perak and lived here a while, a while in Taiping before she married my father. Mom is from a simple family background. Only 3 siblings, in which the youngest was born after many years. Mom stayed by herself most of her years, as she worked in Taiping and Penang a while and would go home once or twice a month and during festive seasons.

She has a brother who was born just 4 years after her. His name is Selvam, married to Clara, had 2 daughters. My mama works with Pusat Serenti BM for many years and will be retiring soon. His eldest daughter, Carol Anne, is a special child, studies and works with Sekolah Sinar Harapan, while the 2^nd girl is Cynthia Anne, just enrolled with KPJ College in Nilai 2 weeks ago, after completing her SPM. They live in BM. My mama is the Tamil choir master.

The youngest is Jerry Nayagam, was born very much later. He lives in JB and is working with Hyatt Hotel Singapore. He is good at mimics, loves acting and acted in a local Tamil tele-movie recently (Rahasiya Police 999), also acted in a small role in local Tamil drama many years ago. He went to India to try his luck and manage to get a super small role in the movie Vinnaithandi Varuvaya. But luck was not on his side and he returned back from India. He did some roles too, in some India produced low budget serials. He is not married yet.
